Glossary & Help
Glossary of abbreviations commonly used on the blog as well as equivalent weights and measures and notes for clarification. This section will be filled as needed as the blog grows.
General Notes
As a US native I use the United States customary system of measurements (commonly know as the ‘Imperial’ system). All recipes on this site use this system unless otherwise noted (though some may include SI or ‘metric’ translations). Degrees for baking will always be in Fahrenheit (though Centigrade may also be noted).
Measurements of volume are basically measurements made in measuring cups or spoons, while units of mass are what you may know as measurements of weight, and are measured with a scale. I do not commonly use a food scale, so often units of mass are more for referencing how much of the item you should buy (such as 2 pounds of beef or 8 ounces sour cream), though occasionally I will use conversions to measure ounces with measuring cups.
